SMALL LOBSTERS GROW
Trailer
A documentary that tells the story of a little environmental miracle in the Sardinian Sea. The protagonist is Gianni Usai, who previously had worked in FIAT Mirafiori where, in the 70’s, he is involved in political struggles. But just before the Forty-thousand march, he leaves Turin and goes back to Sardinia to be a fisherman. There he, with Su Pallosu small fishermen, will found a cooperative mostly focused on lobster fishing. The bet is challenging: trying to live off the sea without killing it. So, in the 90’s, with Professor Angelo Cau, he starts at University of Cagliari the first project of sustainable restocking of the red Mediterranean lobster. An unknown synergy between science and territory, between theory and practice, that has an incredible outcome: 550% increase of lobster biomass in Su Pallosu. This documentary, with a visual and non-institutional nor academic language, wants to say that if phishing is delegated to who knows how to take care of the sea, it can really be sustainable and can offer a job-creation future.
